Welcome to the 15th Annual Flag Stop Theatre & Arts Festival! We’re celebrating this milestone with four straight days of live original theatre, music and comedy from Whistler, the Sea to Sky and across the province.
It starts at Town Plaza in Whistler Village on Wednesday, August 5 with a Squamish Lil’wat welcome ceremony followed by East Vancouver’s sweet dance party orchestra Balkan Shmalkan playing under the gazebo before leading the parade to Florence Petersen Park to complete their set. Then Lil’wat band The Spiritual Warriors fill the park with their contemporary roots rock reggae inspired by the land and life in the Coast Mountains.
Thursday is all new to the festival with Cabaret Night at The Point featuring musical hosts Whistler Cowboy Jazz, poet Laura Sharp, theatre, comedy and more!
Yes, the floating stage is still at the heart of the Flag Stop Festival. Friday night sees the western Canadian premiere of stage play Jackie and Jack by legendary vagabond author and playwright Jim Christy.
The evening starts with dinner accompanied by live music, then moves on to comedy on the floating stage by Laugh Out Live!and the premiere of Jackie and Jack. After, bands take the stage inside the lodge for a night of celebration and dancing.
Friday night sees the return of Balkan Shmalkan with their first performance inside The Point, and Saturday features the lively Western Swing and Rockabilly of The Rocket Revellers.
Please join us in celebrating 15 years of the Flag Stop Festival this August 5-8!
