“Landmarks of the Heart” Art Show
The Point Artist-Run Centre is proud to present Landmarks of the Heart, a community art exhibition opening in November and running throughout the winter season in Whistler. Timed to coincide with the 50th anniversary of the town’s founding, the show invites artists to respond to the theme of “Responding to layers of history: personal, ecological, communal.”
Through painting, sculpture, photography, and multimedia installations, artists reflect on how place, memory, and environment shape identity. The works uncover stories that live within the land, the waters, and the people—revealing connections between Whistler’s early days, its ecological rhythms, and the evolving communities that call it home.
We also acknowledge with gratitude that this exhibition takes place on the shared, unceded territories of the Sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish) and Líl̓wat Nations. Landmarks of the Heart honors these deep histories alongside more recent chapters, recognizing the ongoing presence, culture, and stewardship of Indigenous Peoples in this valley.
As Whistler celebrates fifty years, Landmarks of the Heart highlights not only the visible markers of history but also the quieter, often hidden moments of meaning. The exhibition asks: what are the inner landmarks we carry, and how do they align with the shared spaces we inhabit together?
